Raven Hall
Raven Hall Project – PRC Melbourne
The Raven Hall project stands as a testament to PRC Melbourne’s dedication to transforming commercial spaces with innovative design and seamless execution. This project was an exciting challenge, blending structural ingenuity with modern aesthetics to craft a highly functional and stylish workspace.
Project Overview:
The primary goal of the Raven Hall project was to create an open-plan, multi-level office and workshop space that maximizes utility while maintaining a sleek, industrial-modern look. The project required meticulous planning and precision, as the client needed both office partitions and mezzanine floors to enhance the available working area.
Phase 1: Structural Framing & Partitioning
The first step was to frame the interior structure. This phase involved installing timber frames to section off specific areas for offices, meeting rooms, and break spaces. By using high-quality timber and reinforced steel beams, we ensured that the framing provided durability and long-term structural integrity.
- Timber Framing: One of the standout features of this project is the timber partitioning. Each section was carefully measured and aligned to create open but defined spaces, promoting both collaboration and privacy.
- Glass Panel Integration: The design called for glass panels to be seamlessly integrated into the timber frames. This helped maintain a sense of openness and transparency throughout the office area while allowing natural light to flow between spaces.
Phase 2: Mezzanine Construction
A major component of the Raven Hall project was the construction of a mezzanine level, providing additional office and storage space without compromising the ground-level functionality.
- Steel Beam Installation: To support the mezzanine, we fitted steel beams across the width of the workshop. This provided the necessary structural support to handle heavy loads and equipment.
- Flooring: We opted for durable composite flooring panels that were not only robust but also soundproof, ensuring a quiet workspace for upper-level offices.
- Staircase Construction: Access to the mezzanine was facilitated by a custom-built staircase crafted from solid timber, providing both durability and visual appeal. The handrails were installed to meet all safety regulations, ensuring ease of use and accessibility.
Phase 3: Ceiling and Insulation
To create a comfortable working environment, we focused on ceiling installation and insulation.
- Suspended Ceiling System: We installed a suspended ceiling with acoustic panels to reduce noise levels and enhance thermal efficiency. This was essential for maintaining a pleasant atmosphere in the open-plan office space.
- Insulation: High-performance insulation materials were used to regulate temperature and reduce energy costs, keeping the space warm in winter and cool during summer.
Phase 4: Finishing Touches
Attention to detail during the finishing phase ensured the space exuded professionalism and style.
- Interior Walls & Painting: Drywall panels were fitted and expertly plastered to provide a smooth, seamless finish. After plastering, the entire interior was painted with neutral tones to create a clean and modern aesthetic.
- Cabinetry & Fixtures: Custom cabinetry was installed in break areas and offices to provide storage solutions that complement the overall design.
